Last month, on August 16th, the DASA Board came together to discuss the current state of the business and action plan. The DASA CEO, Deborah Burton, led the meeting, and as the chair of the editorial board, I was invited to join this session. As DASA advocates an open and transparent model, I am taking the liberty to share a few words about the outcomes of the meeting.
We discussed the current state of the business in addition to our plans for the coming months. I can only say that the positive spirit and optimism around our content development and expansion plans was overwhelming during this meeting, which reflects the fact that the DASA programs and our open, community-driven model are resonating in the market.
Current State of the Market
With 197 training providers having adopted DASA now has coverage in all continents (ok… excluding Antarctica). From Peru to Canada, South Africa to Norway and India to Australia, DASA is gaining adoption everywhere. What is resonating very well in the various markets is the competence model that helps organizations explain what skills are needed for effective DevOps adoption.
For the coming months, DASA will continue to focus on spreading the message and gaining further interest in the market. As a result, the DASA team will attend and present at a number of conferences including the ITSMF conferences coming up in several locations. On that same note, DASA has also started to organize its own conferences.
The Product Portfolio
The Fundamentals program will continue to be optimized to meet the changing market needs. The syllabus is undergoing continuous reviews, and the DASA Board supports this to make sure that DASA always offers the most current and relevant program in the market. The Practitioner program is also well received and appreciated by practitioners in the market.
DASA is going to work on more advanced programs later in the year and is going to reach out to the Forerunner community and set up a working group to build this program. Portfolio diversification is also imminent, and additional programs are currently being taken into consideration. In addition to this, the Dutch, Spanish, French, German and Japanese translations of Fundamentals will become available shortly.
Building Market Traction
The DASA board recognizes that the market is a young market and that many organizations are still trying to understand what to do with DevOps. With the momentum going for DASA right now and sufficient traction taking place, DASA is finally going to be spending more time in the coming months to help organizations better understand how to go about this journey, and how DASA can help.

DASA developed a certification program designed for each profile to test the practical skills and experience of professionals who feel most related to these profiles.
