Traditional organisations develop IT solutions and hand them over to Operations to deploy and maintain these solutions. Anyone acquainted with DevOps is very well aware that this no longer needs to be the case. DevOps teams have revolutionised the creation and performance of innovation. There still are, however, a series of widespread misconceptions surrounding DevOps. This is particularly the case for those starting their migration or adoption journey to the DevOps way of working. It’s only natural that many questions arise. Is there a strong link between developing, managing, and delivering software systems and organisational performance? What can I do to ensure DevOps success?

In this episode of DevOps Voices, DASA Ambassador Irfan Shariff tackles some of these recurrent questions. To do so, he explores DASA DevOps Principles such as End-To-End Responsibility. Find out how important it is to implement an effective cultural shift. Irfan is a consultant with a wealth of experience helping teams and organisations improve the way they develop, deploy, and operate software systems. You don’t want to miss this.

DevOps Agile Skills Association (DASA) is an independent and open members-driven association supporting DevOps journeys around the world through training, certification and knowledge sharing.

THE DASA DEVOPS CERTIFICATION SCHEME The role of the IT professional will become more generic as DevOps teams develop and IT people become more multi-skilled. DASA identifies three broad areas of expertise, and developed a certification program designed for each profile. These programs test the practical skills and experience of professionals who feel most related to these profiles.

DEVOPS COMPETENCE MODEL The DASA DevOps Competence Model describes the essential skills needed in a DevOps team. DASA has identified 4 skill areas, and 8 knowledge areas, and outlined what the expected behaviour or knowledge is for each of these 12 capabilities.

DASA DEVOPS PRINCIPLES Many definitions of DevOps exist, and many of them adequately explain one or more aspects that are important to find flow in the delivery of IT services. Instead of trying to state a comprehensive definition on our own, we prefer highlighting six DevOps principles we deem essential when adopting or migrating to a DevOps way of working.
